Celebrating Book Week at JFSC in 2026
Book Week is hosted by the English Department at JFSC each year, providing students with opportunities to celebrate reading, creativity and storytelling. This year's festivities featured daily quizzes and engaging activities designed to encourage a love of books and inspire students to explore new stories.
On Wednesday students participated in Write A Book In A Day. Students, working in teams, combined creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills to write an original book in just one day.
Many students stayed back after school to complete the writing and illustration of their books, demonstrating remarkable dedication and enthusiasm. Their efforts resulted in a collection of truly imaginative and inspiring stories.
Beyond the challenge itself, Write a Book in a Day also supports childhood cancer research with raising funds for the Kids' Cancer Project, an independent charity and provides books to children in hospitals across Australia, giving students the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while showcasing their creativity.
On Friday students and staff dressed as their favourite book characters. They took delight in figuring out each other's costumes, from wizards and villains to beloved book characters, the day was filled with creativity, laughter, and a shared love of stories.
Although Book Week is over, our love of reading and storytelling continues throughout the year at JFSC.
