Young Writers Workshops
Over two days during Term 2 Year 7-9 students have travelled to Fremantle to participate in the Young Writers Workshops at the Literature Centre in Fremantle
On Tuesday 20 May, Year 9 students attended the Young Writers Workshop. Local crime author Alexander Thorpe (Death Leaves the Station and Death Holds the Key) guided them through the art of crafting crime stories, shared his own writing process, read from his work and encouraged students to express their creativity through free writing. An educational and enjoyable experience for all!
On Thursday 29 May Year 7 and 8 students sparked their creativity by asking themselves the question: “What if?”.
“What if all the ghosts from the prisoners in Fremantle prison came to haunt us?”
“What if the ceiling fan spun so wildly, it dislodged from the ceiling and flung across the room?”
“What if all the furniture transformed into animated characters and started to break out of the classroom?”
From here, they dove into the endless possibilities of their imagination and developed their skills in writing a gripping murder mystery story.
We congratulate these students for their enthusiasm and engagement in such a wonderful learning experience.
