Bring Your Own Device Program (BYOD)
A laptop is an essential tool for students in the modern world. The College 'Bring Your Own Device' (BYOD) Program enables students to bring their own device to school and access important digital resources.
The BYOD program provides a wealth of educational resources and tools that, when used effectively, can deliver positive teaching and learning outcomes.
There are a wide range of devices on the market and it will be your choice which model you choose as long as it complies with our specifications.
The Department of Education provides all students with free access to Microsoft Office 365 and it can be installed on multiple personal devices. This is an excellent service and installation instructions can be found here.
The College BYOD User Policy and Information (including Device Requirements and Student Responsibilities), The Department of Education's Students Online - Acceptable Usage Policy and a Student/Parent Memorandum of Agreement have been developed to support students and parents in the appropriate and safe use of these devices at school.
Students have access to the College wireless network, learning programs, support and resources to enhance their educational experience. Access to the network is only available while on the College site and during school hours. Access to many of our learning programs and resources is available through the internet. To be able to access these learning programs, please complete the 3rd Party Consent form here and return it to the Administration.
John Forrest Secondary College teachers have access to the latest technology at the college and regularly participate in a range of ICT professional learning programs.
The safe and effective use of technology is the responsibility of students, parents and the College.
